I'm 4'11 with an obsession for wide-leg pants. I definitely think that I am taller than I actually am sometimes. I've never been one to let my height prevent me from wearing certain things. Sure, I might wear some pieces that make me look short, but I am short.. super short, so whatever. [insert girl with hand up emoji] It's like when you're a kid and an adult tells you that you can't touch something. You go and you touch it anyway. When someone says that a short girl can't wear something because of her height, I go and wear it anyway. I think in my own way, that's how I take risks with fashion. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But, there's only one way to find out.
As you all know from reading my blog, my style is pretty simple. I never have too much going on. I don't really ever mix prints. So for me, taking more of a risk is wearing something that most people my height wouldn't wear. I love being able to show fellow petites that we can still rock certain things and make it our own! Of course though the main challenge with this is finding pieces that actually fit properly. I have mentioned before that I never hem anything. I just don't have the patience. That is why I always cuff my jeans. I'm that girl who will purchase something and most likely wear it later that day. Majority of the time when I go shopping it's for something last minute, so I definitely want to be able to wear it right away. That was the case with these. Since the last pair of wide-leg pants that I wore were from H&M, I figured that I would be able to find another pair there. I saw these and died a little inside. Striped satin wide-leg pants with pleats?! I didn't realize how wide they were until I actually tried them on. I mean these babies are like parachutes, especially when wearing in the wind. [Seriously though no joke, these were the hardest things to shoot in.] But luckily, they fit in length with heels. Whenever I try on long pants or a long dress, I always do the tippy toe test. If it's still extremely long on me then I know it won't work. I somehow always get lucky with H&M.
In terms of styling this look, simplicity was key. There is so much going on with these pants and I didn't want to overwhelm the outfit by adding too much. I went with one of my simple black crop tops as I personally feel this is the best way for me to wear wide-leg pants. I didn't want my bag to be too big, so I brought my mini Philip Lim for Target satchel out to play and kept my accessories to a minimum. On another note, it's been a couple of weeks since my last beauty post, but I have some new ones coming soon that I hope you will enjoy! I'm in the process of coming up with new content that is separate from outfit posts. :)
Happy Thursday loves. <3
